Helyn & Guy

About Us

Guy and Helyn initially moved to France from the UK to work in the chalet business catering for skiers in the winter and mountain bikers in the summer months. That experience, coupled with their own sporting backgrounds, has given them a good appreciation and knowledge of the needs of people coming to the Alps to enjoy active holidays.

Between them they have completed several triathlons and marathons. Guy spent a couple of seasons road racing and also cycle touring, completing Lands End to John O'Groats in 2002. Autumn weekends in the UK were spent heading to the coast to surf, and Guy spent most of his winter holidays skiing and snowboarding in Europe and a trip to Canada to experience heli-skiing. Helyn passed a summer learning basic mountaineering skills which lead her to climb Mont Blanc in 2002. More recently, in late summer 2007, they took to their bikes crossing the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean in just 4 days. Now their spare time is spent cycling, walking and exploring the Oisans.

They discovered the variety that the Oisans had to offer during holiday stays in the area and found the old school for sale in le Rivier d'Ornon in August 2004. They had moved in by December that year, and 'King of the Mountains' was created soon thereafter.

Guy and Helyn are enthusiastic about life in the Alps and the activities that can he pursued there all year round.  They are very interested in food.  Most outdoor pursuits require a certain amount of fuelling up, so it all fits together quite well!  They are passionate about providing you with the best possible holiday they can, being honest with everyone as to what they can expect from a holiday with them and by putting their all into making your stay both memorable and enjoyable.
